Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Espresso Gear Guide collects when you visit, why, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read rather than survived.

What we collect

What you give us. If you use the contact form, we receive your name, your email address, the subject you select, and your message. We use them to reply to you and for nothing else. The form is provided by Contact Form 7, and submissions are delivered by email and are not stored in a database on this site.

What is collected automatically. Like every website, our host records standard server logs: IP address, browser and device type, the pages requested, and the referring site. This is used for security, for diagnosing faults, and for nothing that identifies you personally.

Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and to see which articles are read. It sets cookies and processes data on Google’s infrastructure, which may involve transfers outside your country. Analytics only runs if you consent to it, and refusing costs you nothing.

Affiliate attribution. When you click an affiliate link, the destination retailer sets its own cookie so that a sale can be attributed to us. That cookie belongs to the retailer and is governed by the retailer’s privacy policy. We never see your order, your payment details, or your identity — only aggregate commission reports. Spam filtering. Form submissions and, where enabled, comments may be checked by Akismet, which processes the submitted content and IP address to decide whether it is spam.

What we do not do

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We do not build advertising profiles. We do not require an account to read anything on this site.

Legal basis, where the GDPR applies

• Consent for analytics and any other non-essential cookie.
• Legitimate interest for security logging, spam filtering, and keeping the site working.
• Steps taken at your request when you contact us with a question.

You may withdraw consent at any time through the cookie settings link in the footer. Withdrawal does not affect processing carried out before it.

How long we keep it

• Contact messages: for as long as the exchange is live, and up to 24 months afterwards.
• Server logs: up to 12 months.
• Analytics data: according to the retention setting on our Google Analytics property, which is set to the shortest period the tool offers.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you may ask us to confirm what we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to send you a copy. You may object to processing or ask us to restrict it.

If you are in the EU, the EEA, or the UK, these are your rights under the GDPR and the UK GDPR, and you may complain to your national supervisory authority if our answer does not satisfy you.

If you are a resident of California, you have the right to know what is collected, to delete it, to correct it, to opt out of sale or sharing — we do neither — and to be free from discrimination for exercising any of these. Residents of Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas and other states with comparable laws have equivalent rights.

We honour the Global Privacy Control signal where your browser sends it, and treat it as an opt-out of non-essential cookies.

To exercise any right, write to us through the contact form or at the email address above. We respond within 30 days. We will not charge you and we will not ask for more identification than we need to be sure it is you.

International transfers

NET STUDIO LLC is established in the United States and this site is hosted in France. If you write to us from elsewhere, your message will be processed in these locations. Where the GDPR applies to a transfer, we rely on the appropriate safeguards offered by the providers listed below.

Who processes data on our behalf

• o2switch SAS (Chemin des Pardiaux, 63000 Clermont-Ferrand, France) — hosting and server logs.
• Google LLC — Analytics, and advertising where enabled.
• Automattic — Akismet spam filtering.
• Amazon and other affiliate programs — click attribution, under their own policies.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 16, we do not knowingly collect their personal data, and we will delete it if we learn that we have.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes and the change is described here rather than slipped in quietly.
